Psychological Assessment

Overview

Many people have trouble learning in school, meeting expectations at work, completing daily tasks on time, or maintaining healthy relationships with others. A psychological evaluation can help you understand how you learn, think, feel, and act in a personalized and detailed way. Maybe you are concerned about your child’s progress in school, and you want to know why they are struggling. Perhaps you are feeling stuck in therapy, and you are looking for recommendations and next steps. Or maybe you suspect you have an attention problem that is getting in your way at work or school. A psychological evaluation can help identify what underlies these concerns and how to address them. Testing is available for a variety of concerns including autism, ADHD, learning disorders, cognitive/intellectual problems, and social and emotional concerns. Couples Therapy

Overview

Couples (or couple) therapy is an opportunity to restrengthen the bonds that brought you and your partner together at the beginning of your relationship. When problems in a couple go on for long enough, it can be hard to identify them, let alone figure out how to address them. A therapist working with a couple can often bring to light conscious and unconscious patterns that perpetuate disconnect and can provide accountability and direct feedback to help a couple get back on track. Whether you are looking for pre-marital counseling, post-martial problem-solving, or just relationship-focused care, couples therapy can help you learn to communicate better with your partner, improve your ability to identify and respond to each other’s needs, and help your relationship thrive again. Contact one of our providers to learn more about what to expect when you and your partner work together to address your relationship dissatisfaction.

Group Therapy

Overview

Whether you are socially anxious and need help getting comfortable around others, or feel extroverted but can’t quite seem to keep close relationships around you, group therapy offers an exciting opportunity to receive interpersonal feedback in a safe and empowering environment. Group therapy at Heartwood is developed around the idea that humans are social creatures, but taking risks in our social circles can feel intimidating and discouraging. Group therapy is focused on learning to better connect with those around you by practicing ways to send and receive in relationships, and to get real-time feedback about how others are perceiving you. Groups tend to consist of 4-5 members with one facilitator. Contact a provider to learn more.
