Treatment Approach
βThe longest and most intimate relationship we will ever have in life is the relationship we have with ourselves.β
Life can be hard, messy, and unpredictable, and life may often deviate from the plans or vision we had set for ourselves. However, as part of the human experience, survival is a natural instinct. Whether we are faced with a traumatic experience, a change or transition in life, chaotic family dynamics, a significant loss, or a challenging interpersonal relationship, we are wired to adapt, cope, and survive. While we can acknowledge our ways of coping may be adaptive for a period of time, the larger question is: is our way of coping and living sustainable over time? Fortunately, as part of our natural human instinct for survival, we are equally wired for resiliency and to find sustainable ways to build a balanced, meaningful life.
As a therapist, I believe there is a constant interplay between our thoughts, emotions, and behaviors, and if we can start to intervene at any one of these levels, we can begin to shift the cycle and create meaningful changes in our lives. My goal in treatment is to empower and support individuals in re-building their relationship with self, increasing awareness, and becoming their best advocate in order to develop a healthy, balanced life. Healing begins when we can reconnect with our emotions, give voice to the hard stuff, and compassionately accept our humanness, and my hope is to collaborate and journey alongside you in your path towards personal growth and healing.
Additionally, my approach is rooted within cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and humanistic psychology. I offer both in-person and telehealth services, and I also maintain a PSYPACT license (interstate license), which is especially helpful for students/individuals who may return to a home state over the summer, move, or travel. Please see a list of included states: https://psypact.org/mpage/psypactmap
